Vivien, Justin, Nathan, Hyrum and I went on a day trip to find some falls. Driving through the Twin Bridge area and heading into Heise, making a couple of U turns along the way, we finally found the hidden falls. Just above the lazy Fall River, coming directly out of the base of the mountain, we got to explore the area around the falls and overlook the winding river. We saw several people canoeing, floating, fishing, and wading. It was a wonderful day hike to follow up our R Mountain hike. The little boys are becoming wonderful adventurers.
Up above the falls we could see where the soil had fallen into the water underneath it. Unlike the dry surroundings of the falls, this area was covered in thick, green brush (and plenty of flying bugs). The highest area we could get to looked like a still pond, the next area down had more of a flow to it and finally, the calm running water burst out of the mountain, crashing over the edge, creating the beautiful Fall River Falls.
We did a little rock climbing to get closer to the falls.
Once we all made it down we were able to enjoy the spray and sound of the water. It isn't the most magnificent place we've been to but it was still captivating, peaceful and beautiful. We considered having our lunch here but the only shade was in the little cove right next to the falls and it didn't provide enough room to sit comfortably. It only took us a short drive along the river the find a shady place, with a table and a few less bugs, for our lunch.
Justin and Vivien just happened to see a bird (that wasn't really there) each time I tried to take a lunch picture. Goofballs!
The boat dock near our table was calling to my sweaty, swollen feet. The cool water felt so good!
