Family Vacation, Day 2: Chillin' in Utah

After our first day spent at Lagoon, staying up after Lagoon to watch Hook, seeing that it was supposed to rain the next day, and falling into our beds in the wee hours of the morning, we decided to sleep in and relax for day 2.  Our initial plan was to go to Hogle Zoo but we didn't want to do it in the rain so we put it off for the last day and it all worked out perfectly.

Levi, Daymia, Erika and Bret left for downtown SLC.  Bret and Erika wanted to go to temple square because they had not been there in the eleven months since their wedding, Levi and Daymia wanted to go see Daymia's sister and they all wanted to do a little shopping.

As for the rest of us, we went bowling!

Vivien hadn't been bowling before so the boys showed off their very best skills.

Vivien was doing great but she seemed to be getting frustrated half way through the game (kinda hard to be last place).  I wasn't bowling because I didn't have any socks with me so I borrowed Vivien's shoes and stuck my feet in those ugly nasties to finish the game for her.  I didn't do much for her score and those shoes did nothing good for my bare feet but we had a good laugh as I guttered the ball just as much as she did.

There's something about bowling shoes, the music, the lanes, and the crashing sound of the pins that always pulls out
the wackiness in our family.

There were many more embarrassing photos but most of them were of Vivien and I and since I am the one keeping this record of our family I'm going to leave those blackmail photos in the archives.

After bowling we decided on Chick-fil-A for an early dinner.  Big Mistake!!!  We had never eaten at Chick-fil-A before so we hadn't kept up on any coupons or promotions taking place.  We walked right into a restaurant barnyard full of human cows.  We found out that anyone who was dressed up like a cow would get free chicken.  There were garbage bag cows, sheet cows, poster cows, white t-shirt cows, all with black spots all over them and some with udders hanging right in front of Nathan and Hyrum's faces. It was so crowded that we had to push our way through the people who were standing to eat because all seating was taken, just to order and then when we tried to sit down milkshakes were spilled around us, kids were crying, screaming and making a mess and all those dressed up cows were out of control!  We decided to take our food across the parking lot to eat on the grass under the trees.  I have never been so grateful to eat outside before!

We didn't just enjoy dinner (Chick-fil-A food was very yummy) but we were able to have a calm break before we met up with the others.  After reading for a while, Vivien and I ran over to the mall to find her some shoes at Vans while the boys relaxed, read, and played with Rubik's cubes and the iPod.

We met up with Levi, Daymia, Erika and Bret at the theater in Sandy to watch
We loved it!
