Canning Peaches

Yeah! I love having my food storage shelves full but I love even more to see jars that I have filled. Out of 35 jars only 1 didn't seal. Nathan and I quickly took care of that one.

Derek asked me if canning peaches is 'fun'. I replied that it isn't necessarily 'fun' because it is alot of work but it is extremely satisfying . . . and yummy!

I did have about 1/2 box more to do but they were ripening really fast and the kids were begging me to save them some for peaches and cream. We have enjoyed canned peaches, peach smoothies, peaches and cream, plain peaches and peach cobbler. Now the whole family is just peachy!

I think Derek, out of all your kids, would realize that creating something AWESOME with your own hard work and two hands is the best and most satisfying kind of fun.

Kudos on your peaches! Oh to taste edible food again...

Nothing quite like the feeling of accomplishment that goes with full jars of fruit.
A true labor of love(for fruit that actually tastes good) :)

I love how pretty freshly canned fruit looks.

I'm glad that we canned so much last year because the happenings this month have not really been condusive to canning. I was going to do pears and jam, but I think I'll leave the canning to you this year. :S

I AM SO JEALOUS!
I just gave away a box of wide mouth jars to a friend who wants to get in to canning and I'm butting the rest in storage. This has been a really hard decision for me, especially seeing everyone's canning endeavors. Angela just did a whole bunch of peaches and jam too. Oh well. Maybe in a few years.

They look beautiful! So does your kitchen. I miss doing these projects with you too. Will we ever get to do these things again?

Those peaches look beautiful! After talking to you tonight about how to do them I think I might actually be able to do it. You are such an inspiration.
